The CabinACe-2 product provides dynamic Multi-User Multiple Input/Multiple Output (MU-MIMO), significantly boosting network capacity. The company’s new IFEC hardware is the only Wave 2, ARINC 628 compliant WAP available on the market today, making it the first to meet the industry’s latest adopted standard for electrical characteristics and interfaces, RF performance, size, weight, and power.

With airline customers demanding high bandwidth applications, for example high-definition video streaming, airline network architects are being challenged to support increasing WiFi capacity performance requirements. Where 802.11ac, Wave 1 offered a drastic jump in network performance over 802.11n with 80 MHz channel bandwidth and support for up to 3 spatial streams, 802.11ac, Wave 2 promises to offer another leap in improvement over Wave 1. Wave 2 technology has the potential to offer double the bandwidth (to 160 MHz), support for 4 spatial streams, and features MU-MIMO, which will support the bandwidth and capacity requirements of emerging applications for years to come.

To prepare for the anticipated adoption of Wave 2 devices, the CabinACe-2 access point engine incorporates intelligent awareness technology for Wave 2, MU-MIMO clients, automatically steering and grouping MU-MIMO devices together. This ClientMatch® technology allows the unit to transmit data to multiple Wave 2 – enabled devices simultaneously, which not only improves individual device performance, but it will also boost the overall network efficiency. The result is up to 42 percent improvement in performance over other cabin wireless access point solutions without ClientMatch technology.

DO-160G testing has been completed, along with an extensive Boeing Line Fit offerability test program. Additional STC retrofit projects for additional product configurations will begin later this year.

Singapore and Waukegan, Illinois | November 14, 2016– Telefonix PDT, the aerospace team within Telefonix Inc., has received its first supplemental type certificate (STC) for its CabinACe 802.11ac wireless access point (WAP) and Cabin Pinnacle general-purpose server products. It’s the first STC for products within the company’s Summit line of inflight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) hardware.

The STC, wholly owned by Telefonix PDT, is applicable to Boeing 737-700/800/900 aircraft, and will include the Summit products plus a complete aircraft installation kit that will include installation trays, cabling, antennas, and a control panel. Efforts to complete an STC for these products on Airbus A320 aircraft are under way; and plans to add the Cabin Edge content loader to the STC are in progress.

Hamburg – Tuesday, March 31, 2009: AeroMobile, the award-winning in-flight mobile communications provider, is to revolutionise credit card payments for airlines and passengers by bringing “chip-and-pin” to the sky.

Airlines are currently restricted to using old-fashioned swipe machines to process credit card payments for duty-free goods bought in-flight. With existing systems it is not possible to access the ground-based retailers to verify payments.

But now the AeroMobile system can be used to securely conduct credit checks in-flight, transforming in-flight transactions for both retailers and customers.

AeroMobile is currently best known for leading the way with in-flight passenger communications, the world’s first to provide technology and services that allow mobile phone use onboard.

The UK-based company is rolling out a new suite of value added services to both airlines and passengers.

Peter Tuggey, AeroMobile’s chief commercial officer, said: “Credit card fraud is notoriously high for onboard duty-free sales as airlines aren’t able to access payment networks to authorise the transactions.

“However, AeroMobile can now offer a solution by allowing airlines to make secure transactions through its system. Cabin crew will simply be able to use the same sort of hand-held credit card machines so often used in restaurants on the ground.

“We will be trialling this system with our existing customers and talking to duty free providers, as this is a benefit that brings real value to both airlines and passengers.”

Another innovation being unveiled by AeroMobile at this week’s Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg is the introduction of a mobile friendly internet portal, giving passengers access to key information on their destination.

The service will allow passengers to click through a WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) web page from their phone, giving them instant access to information on weather forecasts, currency exchange rates and other destination information.

Peter Tuggey said: “The introduction of our WAP page is another value-added service we can provide to airlines and their passengers as the take-up of our service grows around the world.”

About AeroMobile

AeroMobile Limited is a UK-based company which is majority owned by Telenor ASA. Since 2003, it has been pursuing the objective of developing the safe use of passengers own mobile phones and PDAs in response to market demands.
