Toulouse, France | November 13, 2018– Flynas, Saudi Arabia’s first low-cost airline, has begun taking delivery of its first of 80 A320neo Family aircraft. This follows an agreement signed in January 2017, with deliveries scheduled to take place from 2018 to 2026.
Flynas is the first operator in Saudi Arabia to acquire the A320neo and currently operates a fleet of 30 A320ceos. The A320neo, powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines, will support Flynas’ expansion plans while providing greater operational efficiency and passenger comfort.
Saudi Arabia is the largest domestic aviation market in the Middle East. Since its inception in 2007, Flynashas set ambitious growth plans that continuously develop its fleet in order to carry more passengers. In 2017, the airline carried more than 6.4 million passengers and over 3 million passengers during the first half of 2018.
The A320neo Family is the world’s best-selling single aisle aircraft with over 6,200 orders from more than 100 customers since its launch in 2010. It incorporates latest technologies including new generation engines and Sharklet wing tip devices, which together deliver more than 15 percent in fuel savings from day one and 20 percent by 2020 with further cabin innovations. The A320neo also offers significant environmental performance with nearly a 50 percent reduction in noise footprint compared to previous generation aircraft.
- Airline celebrates 1,000,000th Facebook followers and five new connectivity-equipped B777-300ERs
Geneva, Switzerland | January 20, 2014–
Saudia is celebrating its one millionth Facebook follower by giving passengers free inflight Wi-Fi sessions. For January, passengers flying on Saudia’s OnAir-equipped Airbus A330s and Boeing 777s will be able to use the Internet for free during their flight.
To receive the promotional code said Mr. Hazem Sonbol GM E-commerce of Saudia, passengers simply need to enter their flight details into Saudia’s Facebook app to make sure the aircraft has Internet OnAir. Saudia will then send the code by email. Once on board, the passenger uses the code to log on to the Wi-Fi hotspot (called Saudia OnAir) to access the Internet, check emails, read the news and update social media.
“Saudia has been providing OnAir inflight connectivity for over three years with more than 16 aircraft equipped with connectivity solutions and future plans for expansion and adding more aircrafts into the service. And it is proving very popular with our passengers,” said Mr. Tarik Sindi VP Marketing and Product management of Saudia. “This Facebook campaign has been running for only a few days and has already been liked by over 8,000 people. Comments such as ‘I love this too much’, ‘Awesome’ and ‘Wow’ sum up just how much people welcome connectivity.”
“This is the first time an airline has given away free Internet OnAir sessions using Facebook,” said Ian Dawkins, CEO of OnAir. “Campaigns like this are doable because OnAir connectivity is available on all commercial aircraft types and across entire fleets. It shows that inflight connectivity has become a mainstream part of the passenger experience.”
The free inflight Wi-Fi promotion will run until the end of January 2014 and will be available in different destinations.
