– AIM brings significant time savings to flight operations

Orlando, FL | October 29, 2012– Rockwell Collins’ Ascend Aircraft Information Manager (AIM), the only reliable and secure data transfer and maintenance management system available for Pro Line 4™, Pro Line 21™ and Pro Line Fusion®-equipped aircraft, was recently certified for Cessna CJ1+, CJ2+, CJ3, CJ4 and Hawker Beechcraft B200 Series King Air aircraft.

AIM uploads flight critical database updates, and downloads maintenance information post-flight using available Wi-Fi or cellular links that automatically transfer information to and from the Ascend Data Center. Flight Management System (FMS), Integrated Flight Information System (IFIS), Terrain Awareness Warning System (TAWS) and Surface Management System (SMS) databases can be uploaded to the aircraft from anywhere.

AIM is a key component of Rockwell Collins Ascend Flight Information Solutions, the only offering that gives business jet operators all the tools, services and support needed for streamlined, efficient flight operations from a single source.

Through the Ascend AIM subscription service, flight departments can monitor the progress and confirm successful uploads by logging on to the Ascend web portal. AIM hardware installation includes Rockwell Collins’ IMS-3500 Information Management Server and DBU-5010E Data Base Unit. AIM enablement also comes as standard on all Pro Line Fusion platforms.

Orlando, FL | October 29, 2012– Rockwell Collins today unveiled HGS™ Flight, a new app that lets users experience the company’s Head-up Guidance (HGS) with synthetic vision on an iPad®. The free app will be available for download in the Apple® iTunes® App Store.

“Eyes-up, out-the-window flying with head-up guidance is the future and we’re allowing any one with an iPad to see firsthand the precision, increased situational awareness and efficiency that HGS brings,” said Colin Mahoney, vice president, Sales and Marketing for Commercial Systems at Rockwell Collins. “This app is meant for anyone, including current and future pilots, aircraft owners, passengers and any aviation enthusiast who wants to see what it’s like to fly with HGS.”

The HGS Flight app goes beyond standard head-up display symbology like flight path vector, speed and altitude, and lets users simulate flights using real-life advanced features that enable more precise flying. These include an approach guidance cue, speed error tape and acceleration caret. The app also features synthetic vision to allow users to see a virtual view of terrain despite any weather condition.

The videogame-style app offers a ‘career’ mode to build HGS skill, and a ‘challenge’ mode where users can define settings such as visibility and wind if they already are experts.

Rockwell Collins’ new HGS Flight app will be on display in the company’s exhibit (#1896) at the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Annual Meeting and Convention in Orlando, Fla.

NBAA, Orlando, FL | October 30, 2012– ARINC Direct is highlighting ADConnect, its new aviation softphone application for iPhone and Android smartphone users at the world’s largest business aviation show, NBAA this week at the Orange County Convention Centre, Florida (Booth No N2155.)

The app provides the business aircraft traveller with a bridge between his or her personal communication device and the advanced communication technology available on business jets today.

ADConnect customers will have the ability to make and receive voice calls using their personal smart phones onboard the aircraft, rather than requiring a dedicated aircraft handset, giving the user access to their personal contacts. October 29, 2012– Flying Colours Corp., the completions, refurbishment and maintenance specialist, announced today that Bombardier* has appointed both its Peterborough, ON, Canada and JetCorp Technical Services, St Louis, Missouri, USA, locations as Authorized Service Facilities (ASF) for Learjet* and Challenger* business jets.

Flying Colours Corp. is renowned for its new Challenger 850* aircraft completions for which it works directly with Bombardier as an Authorized Completion Centre and it is anticipated the ASF status will serve to further strengthen the relationship between the two companies beyond completions only.

NBAA, Orlando, FL | October 29, 2012– Mecaer Aviation Group (MAG), the Italian aircraft interior specialist of Borgomanero, Italy, will display a full-scale mock-up of its new VIP interior for the AgustaWestland AW169 helicopter at this year’s NBAA Annual Meeting and Convention.

The VIP interior, which is the creation of the company’s design studio, is available for viewing at MAG’s booth # 4538.

MAG was previously selected by Eurocopter as the VIP interior system supplier for its EC145, Mercedes-Benz style. The craft is a new high-end VIP version of the popular twin-engine turbine helicopter. Originally announced at EBACE 2010, the first helicopter equipped with the new VIP interiors, conceived by Mercedes-Benz and completed by MAG, was unveiled last year at EBACE in Geneva.

In Europe, MAG operates several interior installation facilities that are adjacent to, or co-located, within an OEM’s factory. Under the MAG business model, its facilities have complete responsibility for the entire interior process from design and manufacture to final installation and certification on the OEM’s assembly line. Current locations include: Vergiate, Italy; Yeovil, UK; and Moscow, Russia.

In the USA, MAG operates under a similar concept at its Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, location and has recently opened a new facility in Hagerstown, Maryland, to service the interiors and MRO needs of east coast rotary- and fixed-wing operators.
