• Lufthansa Systems enters into partnership with Canada’s premier research and technology organization

Raunheim, Germany | September 29, 2015– Lufthansa Systems announced today that they have entered into a strategic partnership with the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). Under the agreement, the aviation IT specialist will make its BoardConnect in-flight entertainment solution available for use in the research facility’s cabin simulator. At the same time, specialists from both organizations will collaborate on the further development of the innovative IFE system.

The National Research Council is currently building a brand new Cabin Comfort and Environment Research facility. The facility has been designed to authentically simulate the entire airport and aircraft environment, from check-in to cabin – including vibration, noise and in-flight entertainment. It will assist airlines, aircraft manufacturers and other aviation industry suppliers to investigate the passengers’ travel experience and develop new technologies to improve their comfort and satisfaction before, during and after the flight.

With BoardConnect, NRC will be able to offer its airline customers a proven IFE system that is already in service with international airlines. For its part, Lufthansa Systems will gain an opportunity to showcase its wireless IFE platform in an authentic and pioneering environment. Both existing and potential customers will be able to test the system live in a modern, high-quality setting.

The research center, currently under construction in Ottawa, Canada, will open its doors during the summer of 2016. BoardConnect is expected to be installed by the end of this year.
