Munich | May 27, 2019– Better flight experience for Singapore Airlines’ passengers with Media Carrier: The Munich-based media distribution expert today announced that Singapore Airlines is the first Asian airline client to tap into its premium e-paper library, following a tender process.

Under the terms of service which took effect from 1 October 2018, Media Carrier will deliver a selected collection of international digital newspapers and magazines that are integrated via a FTP (File Transfer Protocol) server into the e-Library section of Singapore Airlines’ mobile app. Passengers will be able to choose from more than 120 premium publications from 22 countries in 12 languages to individually curate their on-board reading. These publications were picked by Singapore Airlines from Media Carrier’s wide- ranging portfolio.

Passengers using the app can download and read as many publications as they like free of charge within a time frame specified in the app. Downloaded publications remain saved as PDFs in the app so that passengers, if needed, can continue reading later. The publications are provided in their full versions and familiar print layout for easy and intuitive reading and browsing.

“We are delighted that Singapore Airlines is the first Asian airline to join Media Carrier’s client portfolio. As Singapore Airlines is one of the world’s best airlines, this is a great testimonial for us. Our profound expertise and wide range of premium publications, including many Asian ones, enabled us to convince a major player in the aviation sector of our services. Our focus on and commitment to the highest quality standards for our offerings and services certainly played a role in this context,” comments Media Carrier managing director Philipp J. Jacke.

“Digital tools such as our e-paper library enable airlines to offer their passengers the first-class service they expect. Digitalisation has by now become part and parcel of the modern service industry and value-enhancing digital products considerably contribute to increasing customer satisfaction.”

Cooperation with China International Book Trading Corporation (CIBTC) enables integration of major Chinese e-papers into Media Carrier’s digital media library

Munich | October 26, 2017–In cooperation with the Chinese publishing and distribution company China International Book Trading Corporation (CIBTC), Munich-based media company Media Carrier is considerably expanding the offering of its digital media library Media Box to include more than 60 Chinese newspapers and magazines, such as China Today or Fashion Beijing. This latest expansion is good news for tourism companies worldwide using the e-paper library who can now also provide their Chinese guests and customers with publications in their own language.

The Media Box is mainly used by airlines and hotels, and with more than 100 million Chinese travellers undertaking international trips each year, it is vital for these international tourism companies to integrate Chinese-language content in order to meet their customers’ needs. The Chinese market is an important and growing one for the travel industry and providing first-class and innovative services is key. Offering free-of-charge content to customers in their own language when they’re abroad can be a big plus, leaving lasting positive impressions in people’s minds. The Media Box is therefore an ideal tool for hotels and airlines.

The wide range of Chinese titles now included make the Media Box also a very interesting proposition for airlines and hotels in China and Southeast Asian countries where customers benefit from Media Carrier’s cooperation with CIBTC as well as other cooperations with, amongst others, Singapore Press Holding, Mongoose Asia, Hankook Ilbo or the Nation Multimedia Group.

“Media Carrier is step-by-step expanding its business operations in relevant markets. After establishing numerous successful media cooperations in the USA, we are focussing on China and Southeast Asia and are delighted that the portfolio of our digital media library now includes numerous quality publication from this region,” says Media Carrier’s Managing Director Philipp J. Jacke. “The Media Box is a very attractive service offering for all airlines and hotels that have a lot of Chinese-speaking guests because it can provide them with a competitive advantage. If you want to really convince your guests, simply offering them a basic service such as accommodation or a flight is not enough anymore. It’s all about the quality of the additional offers. They are the decisive factor when it comes to booking or re-booking a certain hotel or airline.”

CIBTC’s Business Director Mr. Li Zhiyong adds: “Media Carrier is a top distribution and cooperation partner for us with excellent digital media distribution know-how and expertise. We are very interested in making our publications available beyond geographical borders to an increasingly mobile readership and Media Carrier’s Media Box is the perfect tool to achieve this goal.”

Munich | March 1, 2017– SWISS passengers are delighted: As of now, they will also be able to enjoy digital reading pleasure in XXL, above and under the clouds. Following Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Eurowings and Air Dolomiti, the digital experts of Munich-based Media Carrier now convinced SWISS, the fifth airline in the Lufthansa Group, of the benefits of using their digital media library, the Media Box. With it, SWISS passengers can download their preferred on-board reading matter from a top-class range of eJournals, conveniently and free of charge.

Whether on mobile phone, tablet or other web-enabled devices – the Media Box from Media Carrier operates web-based, making it the perfect smart media companion for your travel experience. Just like Lufthansa, SWISS now also uses the e-paper media library to keep up with the constantly increasing demand for digital services in the airline industry. Media Carrier impressed the Swiss airline with its high quality standards in the areas of service and technology.

“As a Swiss airline, we do, of course, focus on a high quality standard. In Media Carrier, we found a service-oriented, innovative partner, which knows and serves the needs of modern travellers – and offers correspondingly top-class services. We are sure that, with the Media Box, we can offer our passengers an up-to-the-minute service, which is of ultimate importance to us as a quality airline,” says Alex Hastings, Inflight Procurement Manager at SWISS.

Passengers of the Swiss airline have access to the Media Box via a variety of “touchpoints”: either at the online check-in, on the SWISS homepage or via the pre-flight e-mail. They can individually compile and download their own reading matter from a range of over 250 Swiss and international newspapers and magazines. Depending on their booking class and frequent flyer status, passengers get a certain number of free downloads. The selected titles are then available for download as a PDF file for an unlimited period.

“We are delighted to have convinced SWISS, another prestigious airline in the Lufthansa Group, of the added values of our Media Box. More and more airlines are recognizing that they can offer their passengers an outstanding service with digital services. There is strong passenger demand for a modern, digital press service, and it is now actually expected – particularly by discerning business travellers. Our list of references in the airline sector is growing rapidly: over 100 million passengers per year can already make use of the newstainment offering in our Media Box,” explains Philipp J. Jacke, Managing Director of Media Carrier.
