Prestigious airline integrates e-paper library of German media distribution expert into its mobile app

Munich | May 27, 2019– Better flight experience for Singapore Airlines’ passengers with Media Carrier: The Munich-based media distribution expert today announced that Singapore Airlines is the first Asian airline client to tap into its premium e-paper library, following a tender process.

Under the terms of service which took effect from 1 October 2018, Media Carrier will deliver a selected collection of international digital newspapers and magazines that are integrated via a FTP (File Transfer Protocol) server into the e-Library section of Singapore Airlines’ mobile app. Passengers will be able to choose from more than 120 premium publications from 22 countries in 12 languages to individually curate their on-board reading. These publications were picked by Singapore Airlines from Media Carrier’s wide- ranging portfolio.

Passengers using the app can download and read as many publications as they like free of charge within a time frame specified in the app. Downloaded publications remain saved as PDFs in the app so that passengers, if needed, can continue reading later. The publications are provided in their full versions and familiar print layout for easy and intuitive reading and browsing.

Cooperation with China International Book Trading Corporation (CIBTC) enables integration of major Chinese e-papers into Media Carrier’s digital media library

Munich | October 26, 2017–In cooperation with the Chinese publishing and distribution company China International Book Trading Corporation (CIBTC), Munich-based media company Media Carrier is considerably expanding the offering of its digital media library Media Box to include more than 60 Chinese newspapers and magazines, such as China Today or Fashion Beijing. This latest expansion is good news for tourism companies worldwide using the e-paper library who can now also provide their Chinese guests and customers with publications in their own language.

The Media Box is mainly used by airlines and hotels, and with more than 100 million Chinese travellers undertaking international trips each year, it is vital for these international tourism companies to integrate Chinese-language content in order to meet their customers’ needs. The Chinese market is an important and growing one for the travel industry and providing first-class and innovative services is key. Offering free-of-charge content to customers in their own language when they’re abroad can be a big plus, leaving lasting positive impressions in people’s minds. Passengers of the Swiss airline have access to the Media Box via a variety of “touchpoints”: either at the online check-in, on the SWISS homepage or via the pre-flight e-mail. They can individually compile and download their own reading matter from a range of over 250 Swiss and international newspapers and magazines. Depending on their booking class and frequent flyer status, passengers get a certain number of free downloads. The selected titles are then available for download as a PDF file for an unlimited period.
