The staff at leading in-flight entertainment company, IFE Services, have worn pink for a day as part of a charity initiative by Breast Cancer Campaign.

Knutsford, Cheshire, UK | October 28, 2011 — Staff at IFE Services, the leading in-flight entertainment provider, looked pretty in pink on Friday 28th October in a bid to raise much-needed funds for research into breast cancer.

Every year, charity Breast Cancer Campaign organises the ‘Wear it Pink Day‘ initiative as part of its ongoing efforts to boost awareness of breast cancer and fund world-class research into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure of the condition.

The IFE Services team supported the initiative for the second consecutive year. Among this year’s brightly coloured collection were hats, wigs, feather boas, pyjamas and slippers as the team embraced the importance of the cause. Money was raised through sale of cakes and sweets and a collection amongst staff.

Organising the initiative this year was Clare Martin, IFE Services’ Publicity Coordinator. “Breast Cancer Campaign does incredible work to find a cure for a disease that affects thousands of people every single year,” said Clare. “Following the tremendous success we had last year in raising money for the Wear it Pink Day, we were determined to be involved again this year and do our bit for this fantastic cause.

In 2010, Wear it Pink raised £2million for research into breast cancer. Throughout the UK, pink-themed fundraising events were organised by schools, companies, friends and families.

The APEX EXPO is the world’s leading event committed to improving the airline passenger experience. The leading content service provider (CSP) will be showcasing its IFE solutions for in-flight overhead, personal TV (PTV) and audio visual on-demand (AVOD) systems. The company’s services include the licensing of movies, TV programmes and music as well as the production of safety films, promotional videos, GUIs and pre-recorded announcements (PRAMs). 23rd April 2010: Knutsford, Cheshire, UK. IFE Services, a leading travel entertainment provider, today announced the appointment of Shankar Velusamy as Technical Sales Manager.

Well known within the in-flight entertainment (IFE) industry for his in-depth knowledge of all the major systems and applications, Shankar joins IFE Services at a time of strong growth for the company. Based at its US operation in Lake Forest, California, Shankar will play a key role in developing IFE Services in the North American market and meeting the technical and content needs of its clients.

Shankar began his career at Rockwell Collins Passenger Systems where he was a Lead Software Engineer and Project Manager before moving on to Panasonic Avionics Corporation as an Account Manager. For the past four years Shankar has worked for Thales Avionics where he was a Research and Development Manager working with airline clients to design and architect their applications.

“Growing our presence and market share in North America is a key component of our business strategy,” said Mark Hogg, CEO of IFE Services. “Adding Shankar’s technical skills and industry knowledge to an already very strong team will play a key role in helping us achieve our growth objectives in the region.”
