A unanimous decision by the jury

The jury at the Institut Français du Design has unanimously awarded its Janus Label of Excellence to the Skylounge Core seat in business class. The seat, to be marketed in 2019, meets all five of the “E” criteria for the Label: Economical, Esthetic, Ergonomic, Ethical, and Emotional.

An innovative, more functional architecture that’s easy to customize

Skylounge Core is a top-of-the-line business-class seat, optimized for use on the Airbus A330 and Boeing 787. The seat offers passengers a more expansive travel environment, measuring 20 inches across and including a flat bed surface. The streamlined controls are also more ergonomic, so the seat is easier to use. Plus, there are storage compartments and a versatile space for dining, working or leisure time.

With this new seat, airlines can offer their passengers the best possible travel experience. Thanks to the multiple opportunities for customization, airlines are ensured a wide array of options for fully conveying their image and identity.

An optimized manufacturing process using new materials

The industrial design, engineering and industrialization teams at Safran Seats developed new production processes for the composite materials that comprise the shell of the seat. Production has improved in quality, maturity and speed, thanks in particular to the significant number of parts that are shared among versions.

Says Safran Seats CEO Vincent Mascré, “This award highlights the excellence of the engineering teams at Safran Seats and is a strong reflection of our capacity for innovation on behalf of our customers and the passenger experience.”

Institut Français du Design

Since 1951, the Institut Français du Design (French Institute of Design) has been singling out products and services that focus on respect for users and their environment. To make its selections, the Institute relies on criteria rooted in principles, such as the designer’s intention, the object’s ethical value, its appearance, the materials used and its value and appeal for users.

The award winning new product, the ATS-6100 Wire Fault Tester, will be featured at the Defense Maintenance and Logistics Exhibition

Astronics Test Systems makes the list for the fourth straight year, placing in the top 20 in 2017

Irvine, CA | December 22, 2017–
Astronics Corporation (NASDAQ: ATRO), through its wholly owned subsidiary Astronics Test Systems, has been recognized as a 2017 Top Workplace by the Orange County Register, placing in the top 20 of mid-sized businesses for the first time. The Top Workplaces lists are based solely on the results of an employee feedback survey administered by Energage, LLC (formerly WorkplaceDynamics), a leading research firm that specializes in organizational health and workplace improvement. Several aspects of workplace culture were measured, including alignment, execution and connection.

“Our employees are the key to our business success,” commented Jim
Mulato, President of Astronics Test Systems. “The Astronics advantage is our collaborative culture that places a premium on employee and customer
experiences. We strive to treat people with dignity and respect and in turn,
our employees treat our customers in the same manner. To be recognized as a Top Workplace, especially among the top 20, is an honor that we don’t take for granted. We look forward to continuing to improve upon our strong, family-oriented, customer-focused culture in the coming year.”

“To be a Top Workplace, organizations must meet our strict standards for organizational health,” says Doug Claffey, CEO of Energage. “And who better to ask about work life than the people who live the culture every day – the employees. Time and time again, our research has proven that what’s most important to them is a strong belief in where the organization is headed, how it’s going to get there, and the feeling that everyone is in it together. Without this sense of connection, an organization doesn’t have a shot at being named a Top Workplace.”

Operating in Orange County since 1961, Astronics Test Systems verifies performance of the world’s most critical electronics through test solutions for the aerospace, military, semiconductor, and medical industries. The company engages more than 250 team members with a collaborative work environment built on a culture of innovation, initiative, and commitment to excellence. Astronics Test Systems team members enjoy flexible schedule options and standing invitations to participate in various interest groups, including cycling, bowling, and golf. Heavily engaged in the local community, recent outreach events include participation in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Second Harvest Foodbank, and KidWorks’ Operation Gobble and Christmas Bicycle Donation Drive.

  • Lifestyle Cabin awarded a Reddot award in the “Design Concept” category

Plaisir, France | August 11, 2016– Zodiac Aerospace is honored to announce that its Lifestyle cabin concept has won the prestigious Reddot Award in the category “Design concept”. The Lifestyle concept recently also won a Crystal Cabin Award in the ‘’Visionary Concept’ category, during Aircraft Interiors Expo in April, 2016.

The Advanced Concept Team and designers from several business units of Zodiac Aerospace have worked with London-based creative agency New Territory to rethink the future of the cabin. The Lifestyle cabin concept illustrates possible aircraft interior design for 10 years’ time, and aims to provoke conversation around the future of the aerospace industry. The concept, privately unveiled at the Aircraft Interiors Expo and Paris Air Show is visualized through a 20th scale aircraft 3D model.

The mock up also features the accompanying motion work on six screens around the model mounted on a light box. The screens bring the interior concept to life through rendered images showing fluid natural movements of passengers around the cabin. At Aircraft Interiors Expo 2016, airlines were also able to visit the lifestyle cabin virtually and “walk” into a cabin that could fly in10 years.
The design awards received for this project prove that passengers are also looking for something different in cabin architecture and that it will be a great way for the airlines to differentiate. It tells that the passengers are looking for a more authentic and tailored travelling experience as well as a more digital experience.

“The Top Workplaces award is not a popularity contest and, oftentimes, people assume it’s all about fancy perks and benefits,” says Doug Claffey, CEO of WorkplaceDynamics. “But to be a Top Workplace, organizations must meet our strict standards for organizational health, and who better to ask about work life than the people who live the culture every day – the employees. Time and time again, our research has proven that what’s most important to them is a strong belief in where the organization is headed, how it’s going to get there and the feeling that everyone is in it together.” Claffey adds, “Without this sense of connection, an organization doesn’t have a shot at being named a Top Workplace.”

2nd April 2009 – Cathay Pacific picked up the award for Airline of the Year award last night at the first live World Airline Awards ceremony, held during Aircraft Interiors Expo.

Organised by Skytrax, the World Airline Awards was celebrating its 10th anniversary at the same time as Aircraft Interiors Expo was commemorating its own 10th edition milestone with an exhibitor and airline networking event. Around 500 exhibitors and visitors attended the awards ceremony to see 24 airlines go up to receive their awards.

Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax, handed out awards in 34 categories. The winners are selected by the airline industry’s most important audience – its customers. More than 16 million passengers, representing 95 different nationalities, took part in completing the Skytrax World Airline Survey this year. The awards are recognised around the world, and renowned for being the only truly global, independent passenger survey of airline standards. The survey does not receive any outside or third-party sponsorship; it is entirely funded by Skytrax Research.

Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax, said: “Cathay Pacific’s achievement can be attributed to its strong showing across most of the survey categories reflecting a great consistency of service and product, which is clearly satisfying customers – be they in first, business or economy class. It was also apparent that Cathay Pacific’s airport services in its home airport of Hong Kong performed very well for the airline in terms of pleasing the passengers.”

Aircraft Interiors Expo’s Event Director, Katie Murphy said: “Hosting the World Airline Awards presentation during our 10th edition party has really topped off what has been a great show for us. We are really pleased with the level of airline and general visitor attendance – as well as the rebookings we have already taken for the 2010 show.”
