Las Vegas, NV [NBAA] | October 23, 2013– As the designated business aviation airtime reseller for Inmarsat’s GX Aviation global Ka-band solution, Honeywell has signed an agreement with ARINC Direct to bring this connectivity to the business aviation market.

GX Aviation is scheduled to be available in early 2015 and will utilize Ka-band satellites both to provide much higher broadband speeds than existing services, and consistent global coverage. Faster speeds will give business jet operators, owners and passengers the ability to work and entertain, all while over bodies of water and around the world. High speed connectivity will no longer be confined to local, land-based access.

The first Inmarsat Ka-band satellite is scheduled to be available to support a launch as early as December 2013, with full global coverage scheduled to be achieved by the end of 2014. Inmarsat has commissioned Boeing to build four Inmarsat-5 satellites to provide the service. By 2016 it is estimated there will be 10 billion mobile devices in the world, and demand for data traffic is expected to grow by a factor of 50 for smartphones and a factor of 62 for tablets.

The Business Aviation sector has historically been an early adopter of technology and ARINC Direct is extremely pleased to be in the forefront. Senior Director at ARINC Direct, David Stanley stated: “We are pleased to start providing a new generation of high-speed broadband connections to our customers. This exciting technology will benefit both our existing and new customers.”

By providing aircraft operators with the ability to access this high-speed GX connection, pilots and crew will be able to streamline flight preparation and other non-flight critical information in real time. GX Aviation will revolutionize how pilots communicate with each other and with the broader ground and air traffic community. The equipment and solutions for this product will be straightforward to install and implement, and airtime charges will be competitive. In addition to connectivity, passengers will also have access to streaming data, ranging from music and movies to social apps, business tools and cloud applications.

This agreement with Honeywell provides ARINC Direct with the ability to sell GX aviation subscription service packages to Business Aviation operators. In addition to the airtime, ARINC Direct plans to develop innovative applications and services ranging from entertainment and software updates and upgrades, to technical aircraft maintenance and customer support. These planned applications and services open up the possibility for minimizing the amount of downtime needed for avionics software and database updates, as well as technician servicing and training. They will allow pilots and operators to be notified when a newer version of software or database information becomes available. With the simple press of a button, pilots would be able to upgrade their software or databases, in much the same way that current mobile operating system upgrades occur with personal mobile devices.

Includes Eagerly Anticipated Document-Management Feature

Annapolis, Maryland | October  15, 2013– ARINC Direct, the leading Flight Services solution provider for business aviation, has announced that version 3.0 of its highly popular iPad app is now available.  The latest version provides a host of document management functions that simplify flight planning needs by putting important information at a pilot’s fingertips.

The 3.0 release includes an ARINC Direct website component that allows pilots to schedule documents for upload, and a component which gives users access to all of their files on iPads and on the web.  Documents can be assigned to a specific leg, aircraft or user and can also be copied from one location to another. The folders for the aircraft, users and legs are automatically created so that pilots can easily drop documents where they belong putting all of the information needed for a flight in one convenient, easily accessed location.

“ARINC Direct strives to provide innovative flight support solutions for the business aviation market,” said Bob Richard, Vice President of ARINC Direct. “This latest version of our iPad application is another example of how we respond to our customer requirements for a cost-effective, simple and seamless user experience.”

“ARINC is working to minimize paper and improve access to information on the flight deck for pilots,” continued Richard, “and version 3.0 is a major step forward in getting our customers there.”

The ARINC Direct iPad application is now available in the Apple App Store.

NBAA, Orlando, FL | October 30, 2012– ARINC Direct is highlighting ADConnect, its new aviation softphone application for iPhone and Android smartphone users at the world’s largest business aviation show, NBAA this week at the Orange County Convention Centre, Florida (Booth No N2155.)

The app provides the business aircraft traveller with a bridge between his or her personal communication device and the advanced communication technology available on business jets today.

ADConnect customers will have the ability to make and receive voice calls using their personal smart phones onboard the aircraft, rather than requiring a dedicated aircraft handset, giving the user access to their personal contacts. The phone app uses a web-based configuration service programmed with customer’s accounts based on individual aircraft tail numbers.

Each account contains a list of aircraft tail numbers within the company fleet and features all the configuration information required to authenticate with the onboard PBX/CGs, permitting access to an Iridium voice channel, Inmarsat Classic voice channel, Inmarsat SwiftBroadband voice channel, Yonder VOIP, Inmarsat streaming IP or any combination of equipment.

The app is compatible with all aircraft wireless avionics technologies connected to INMARSAT (Swift64/Swift Broadband, classic Aero), Yonder and Iridium satellite services. ARINC Direct contracted with CounterPath, experts in innovative SIP-based softphones, server applications and Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) solutions to develop the branded SIP phone client for both iPhone and Android users.

“This app allows business jet travelers who need to stay connected when they fly to easily reach both business and personal contacts anywhere in world using their personal smart phone, conveniently from the seat of their business aircraft,” said Bob Richard, Senior Director, ARINC Direct. “In addition, its dynamic and automated custom provisioning allows customers to have individual call configurations per aircraft tail number within their fleet.”

Additional features of ADConnect include the most desired phone capabilities-call forwarding, call swapping, merge and split calls, as well as transfer calls. If required, the app is configurable for

VPN operations and has DTMF capability to support automated attendants and other applications requiring touch tone operations.
